My beautiful boy! It has always been my intention as a breeder to keep a boy as a stud dog, but it’s been a bit of journey. A couple of years ago I kept JB but he lived locally with a good friend, which seemed a good way of managing a boy. Sadly, his stud career ended before it began as a routine urine infection dragged on and ultimately led to castration being the best treatment.
The turning point for JB coincided with me losing Sunny and Busy’s Mystical Litter arriving. I knew Quin was gorgeous, so at two weeks of age I realised I had to keep him. I’m so glad I did! Just like Busy, who decided to stay with me all those years ago, Quin has been a joy from day one.
Stud dog
Quin is available for use at stud to fully health tested, pedigree Border Collies. These must be of suitable temperament. If you want to ‘test’ a mating with Quin, I recommend looking on Anadune, as the database will show you exactly what to expect! Please contact me if you want to know more?
Appearance and Temperament
Quin has a lovely rich, chocolate coat, like my girls. He has beautiful markings and is a good size – broad and solid, but not huge. Quin is maturing into a gorgeous pedigree Border Collie and he has already produced some amazing puppies. For details about using him at stud, please see below, or contact me.
Quin’s temperament is super. He is really sweet-natured and eager to please. He is still a bit wary of some other dogs, but now has the confidence to play with some and avoid some, so we’re getting there. He’s very vocal! Barking at squirrels in the garden or any animal (especially dogs) on TV! Funny boy.
Top training
I have been working with Quin from the day I kept him and he is generally well behaved. He helps mum Busy and me with therapy work in school, where we are supported by the wonderful charity Canine Concern.
Quin has learned plenty of tricks, done some scentwork training and has done some agility and hoopers. He is able and willing to do whatever is asked of him.

Breeder Mentoring
As part of the stud dog service, I am able to offer a great deal of support to new breeders. I am able to provide copies of resources, useful contact information, such as an excellent dog scanning service and plenty of advice, as required.

A Year With Your Puppy
Puppies are hard work! There is a lot to learn and it can be daunting and difficult. This workbook, with its weekly lessons will take you through the first year of owning your puppy. You will probably attend puppy classes and read books, but this is a different resource to help you manage this new relationship. A Year With Your Puppy (AYWYP) will take you through this first year, step by step.
