What are puppies for?

waving hello

Answer: For cuddling and making people happy!  What could be nicer than a snuggle with a bundle of fluff?  I am so lucky that I know people with children who come round when the pups are at this stage, as it really makes a difference to how well they behave as adult dogs.

This week they have been having a pretty exciting time.  They are properly up and about and much more active.  They are playing with each other (lots of growling) and having a go with some of their toys.

hello big dogs, want to play?

They have even been outside!  They didn’t like it though, it was much too cold, so they huddled together after a few minutes, waiting to be let back in 😉 I think the puppy palace is a bit warm and I need to toughen them up a bit – well maybe later..

cuddling!
gosh this is a hard life

Most of the time they still just eat and sleep, being well cared for by Sunny (and me).  See you next week!

First Meal

Hey this is good

This week we have started the weaning process and they are certainly enjoying it!  It is amazing to watch them grow.  They are just beginning to find their way around and to play.  They make plenty of noise, squeaking, but also growling and barking!  If it ever stops raining they can go outside…

Hello son

Domini brought Taboo over on Saturday so that he could meet the other owners when they came to see their babies.  Sunny was surprisingly fine with him being there and he was intrigued to meet his sons and daughters.

Very pleased to meet you

This weekend Chris and I are hoping for a bit of quiet time, but if that is the only time you can come then do ask!  Next week is half term and I am hoping we will have plenty of children popping in for cuddles and play – they need that experience.

What do you taste like, brother?

First steps

Well they’re starting to look a bit more like dogs and less like guinea pigs.  Their eyes are just beginning to open and they are up on their feet, staggering around, drunk from all that milk they keep guzzling (especially Goblin, he just keeps gobblin’ 😉

The best news is that they all have homes!  I am so delighted with my seven prospective families – they are coming to meet their puppies this weekend, so hopefully we shall be all sorted.  This means that we can all relax and just enjoy them.  We’ve had over 30 people through the house in the first fortnight, many of them staying, so they’ve had lots of interest and cuddles so far.  I expect this to continue – visitors are always welcome, just do please contact me first as we may well be booked up already?

First week

There were seven in a bed

This week, all they’ve done is feed, sleep, squeak, wriggle and of course, be cuddled and admired.  They’ve had quite a few visitors and already have a hefty fan club.  Sunny has continued to be a perfect mother, despite being completely exhausted at times.  She has now started to see a few gaps in between feeds, so has time for a short walk and a bit of playtime with her toys!

Hello Sprite
It’s a pixie!

It’s a Fairytale!

Beautiful Sunshine, radiant mother

I am a very proud breeder today, announcing the arrival of my new ‘Fairytale’ litter, Westirene Sunshine at Dentbros x Borderlair Taboo Too.  Sunny is the most amazing mother; she is calm and confident, totally focused on caring for her babies, but completely relaxed about showing them off and coping with attention.  We have 3 girls and 4 boys and as you can see, we have some chocolate and white and some chocolate merle, with boys and girls in both colours – clever Sunny!

Most of these gorgeous babies have homes already, but if you would like to be considered for one, please apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Visitors are an essential part of the puppies’ development – the more cuddling they have the better!  So please do try and find the time to see them, particularly after the first couple of weeks, when they are up and about?

New Litter – Jan 14

Borderlair Taboo Too

I am so excited about the imminent arrival of 8 puppies from Sunny and Taboo. They will be chocolate and white or chocolate merle – delicious! Taboo works ‘ticket’ in obedience so both parents have great drive and motivation for working. Ideally I would like these puppies to go to homes that will keep them busy, either competing in obedience or agility or being involved in family life.

They are going to have fantastic temperaments, being cuddly, loving pets and will be fully socialised by the time they leave my puppy palace. Both parents have had all health tests done – Taboo’s hip score is 4/5, like Sunny’s and their hearing, sight and DNA tests are all clear.

I have several homes already, but please contact me if you would like to be considered for one of these babies.

NB: These puppies will not be pedigree border collies and will be registered on the Kennel Club activity register.  They will not be eligible for showing.

Happy 3rd Birthday first litter

Happy birthday to our first litter of puppies!  It’s lovely to see how they all are and have recent pictures of them.  Barney’s owner commented on how talkative he is and this is a trait he shares with his siblings and mother.  They like to greet you in the mornings and will chat away if there is something worth telling you, or you aren’t doing something they want!   People sometimes mistake the ‘woh woh woh’ noises for growling, but it is definitely just them letting you know who they are. Sunny is very good at singing ‘happy birthday’ so she sang to Luna yesterday, with Luna joining in with a few harmonies.

Ready to go –

All their bags are packed, they’re ready to go.  The princesses have almost finished their time at the Puppy Palace and will be saying goodbye this weekend. They have been really enjoying their time playing with each other and Luna, but also learning that not everyone is completely friendly – Buzz and Sunny make sure they show respect for their elders 😉  These are all important experiences for them.  I know they will soon be tormenting the other pets and children and ‘tidying up’ their gardens, chair legs, door frames and anything else left lying around!  Their families are VERY excited about welcoming them home and I am confident that they are ready for their next big adventure!

Exploring

The princesses are much more active, with long periods where they are really lively, running about, jumping on each other and Luna, having such a good time.  Then they collapse in a heap, preferably squashed up into a pile beside the lavender, outside.  They have been enjoying the sunshine and the garden, although obviously it needed some heavy pruning to look its best.  They are off to Newmarket in a little while, to the Animal Health Trust, to have their hearing and eyesight checked.  Always a bit of an adventure, but the staff are so lovely.  Not long now till they go off to their new homes – we had around 80 people through the house last week, so they’ve had plenty of cuddles!
