Up until Christmas I will publish daily one (or two!) of my favourite photos of dogs and puppies I have taken in the past year, as part of my advent calendar. I hope you like them!

18th December 2022

Puppies in school! It’s brilliant being able to take a litter of puppies into school for the children (and staff) to enjoy! Although it can be quite stressful for me as they are like a box of frogs. It’s a great opportunity to teach children where puppies come from and how they are bred. There is a world of difference between a commercial breeder or puppy farmer and how I do things.

My puppies are born in my bedroom and raised in my home, with hundreds of visitors to cuddle and play with them. They become confident, outgoing, sociable dogs – it really makes a difference!

Dogs really are the best therapy! Which is why I work hard to support Canine Concern, who provide such invaluable help in getting volunteers and their dogs into schools.

This is Rival, who lives with cocker spaniels, so he competes with them for attention, hence the name. He belongs to my friend Sam. We walk in the woods together – the dogs love running around together. We have 11 dogs so it is great fun! It’s nice to walk with friends isn’t it?

How is it that the puppies can go from this..

To this in just a few weeks! I do so love watching that progression and seeing the characters they will become. I spend so many hours with my puppies, I have to be ready to have them.

More pictures of my beautiful boy, Quin. He is sooooo handsome! He’s also absolutely adorable to live with, such a super character. Quin is so cuddly – he loves to lie on the sofa with his head on your lap while he chews a bone.

Quin is now my stud dog, but that does present us with a few problems, when the girls come into season! Fortunately we are able to separate them relatively easily for the week so we need to.

Quin is also a bit of a monkey for barking at dogs we see on our walks. His recall is fantastic, but he does love to shout at other dogs first! He is such a lovely boy in so many ways and sshh! he might be a dad in the not too distant future.

Bailey – such a sweet puppy! I really loved having my Punk litter this year – they were so unusual! Lilac and white Border Collies are very rare, but I’ve been lucky enough to produce four!

By a massive coincidence, my friend Olivia also has a gorgeous lilac and white Border Collie – Alfie. She and I do agility together, meaning that at one point there were two lilacs in one class (Ounce does sniffing now instead).

We thought it would be fun to get all the lilacs together for a photos and of course Olivia was wearing purple as well!

Charlie Brown! I love this boy, he is so special. I don’t have contact with the other pups from the A-Z litter, which were the only pups Aura had, but I do know they are loved. Charlie is such a super boy and brings happiness to many people. He is another Canine Concern volunteer, going into school with Pippa to work with a wide range of children. Charlie has also had a great year doing agility, with quite a few rosettes to his name. Congratulations Pippa and Charlie. Oh and he’s also good friends with Quin xx

I do love this dog! Busy is brilliant in every way. She is sparky and lively, fun and friendly. When we are out and about she is such a livewire – always ready to run. At agility she is incredibly keen and fast – my trainer thinks she is about four, not nearly nine years old!

When we go into school she is so still and gentle – the children and staff adore her! I can’t believe she has been visiting Heronsgate school for 7 years, since she was just 18 months old. Keeping her was definitely was of my better life choices. My dog of a lifetime.

Celebrating Murmur’s dad Bodie today. I think he is a beautiful – he reminds me of Sunny. I am thrilled with the way his puppies are developing. They are very interesting characters, much quieter and more gentle than their mum Ounce! It’s always fascinating to see the way the parents’ characters come out in their ‘children’ (I know they are called progeny really).

Here is Dennis, Bodie’s son. He’s growing up into a super dog.

I do love this picture of Quin, up on the Scottish hills. This is overlooking East Lomond, in Fife. We do love it up there. It’s lovely taking your dogs away on holiday and exploring new areas. I wonder what adventures we will have next year?

Wherever we go, it is likely to involve fish and chips! Yum.

9th December 2022

It’s my birthday today, so here is a photo of my beautiful Boo to celebrate! Luna is almost 13 years old and has been diabetic for 5 years now, but she is still doing really well. She has cataracts and stumbles around, but of course dogs ‘see’ with their noses, so generally she manages brilliantly. I love this dog so much – she is so gentle and loving. She was always great when doing agility; so helpful and generous.

We are enjoying Luna every day. She is from my first litter – the Potter litter. Sadly my mum said goodbye to her sister Wispa this year. Enjoy your dog – they are not here for long.
